Trajectory (2013) for Alto Saxophone and String Quartet

Trajectory was composed for Vandoren Emerging Artist Sean Y. Xue. The work highlights the saxophone’s melodic agility in combination with string quartet. Melodic gestures of the saxophone are trailed by the quartet, making humble efforts to fly throughout the course of the piece. The work was premiered in Chicago and later at the North American Saxophone Alliance, and is commissioned by Vandoren SAS in cooperation with DANSR, inc., its U.S. importer.
